“People are increasingly unsure about kids,” Kris Gage writes in today’s nugget, published on her Medium blog. Indeed, women are increasingly delaying babies, and Western fertility rates are at an all-time low.

Needless to say, whether or not to have kids is a pretty high-stakes decision. So it’s critical to make that decision proactively, rather than sliding into pregnancy by default. It’s also important to be thoughtful in considering all the relevant aspects of the issue.

Gage recommends that you first establish clarity around what’s truly important for you, and then carefully go through all the potential reasons for and against having kids.
