How to Take On the Instant Gratification Monkey
In our last daily nugget, Tim Urban taught us how the Instant Gratification Monkey produces procrastination by undermining the Rational Decision-Maker, until the Panic Monster shows up and puts the Rational Decision-Maker back in the driver’s seat.
As Urban points out, this is no way to live: Even if you manage to get things done in the end, it’s a highly unpleasant process, you end up selling yourself short, and you never get beyond your Have-To-Dos to your Want-To-Dos.
