What Personality Traits Do You Need to Succeed?

You probably wouldn’t be surprised to hear that personality traits greatly affect the probability of success in life. What’s less obvious, however, is what specific personality traits are most predictive of future glory.
By far the most common personality test in the workplace is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), which classifies people based on dimensions such as “thinking" vs. "feeling” and “introversion" vs. "extraversion”.
But, as BBC’s David Robson points out in today’s nugget, the MBTI fares poorly at predicting managerial success. Indeed, some psychologists even dismiss it as outright pseudoscience.
This is where Ian MacRae and Adrian Furnham, psychologists and co-authors of the book High Potential, come into play. Based on their research, they have identified six traits that drive workplace success: namely, conscientiousness, adjustment, ambiguity acceptance, curiosity, courage, and competitiveness.
