Start Thinking of Your Time Left on Earth in Terms of Events and Interactions

In yesterday’s issue of One Daily Nugget, we featured Shane Parrish’s excerpt from a famous note by Seneca on the value of time.
Let’s build on that theme today with a fascinating twist by Wait But Why’s Tim Urban: Rather than thinking about your remaining time on earth in terms of years, think of it in terms of events and interactions.
For example, Urban reads about five books per year, so, even though it feels to him as if he has an endless number of books left to read, he will have to pick a mere 300 books to focus on before signing off for eternity.
Even more frighteningly, if you think about it in terms of interactions with people you love, such as your parents, whom one interacts with much more frequently during one’s childhood, you may realize that you’ve already used up 90% or 95% of your interaction time together. I.e., you are already approaching the tail end.
Read on and get jolted into a greater appreciation of the limited number of experiences you will enjoy during the rest of your life!
